High-Static-Pressure DC Axial Fans for a Compact Industrial Control Cabinet
Industrial automation equipment — Europe
The Challenge
An industrial automation customer needed to improve cooling inside a compact control cabinet. The original fan had acceptable free-air airflow, but performance dropped sharply after the filter, terminal blocks, and internal wiring created airflow resistance.
The customer also required stable 24V DC operation, lower noise during normal load, and a speed feedback signal for system monitoring.
The Solution
Herays recommended a high-static-pressure DC axial fan with 24V input, PWM speed control, and FG speed feedback. The fan was selected to maintain airflow through the cabinet filter and narrow internal airflow path instead of relying only on free-air CFM.
The cable length and connector were adjusted to match the control board layout, and the customer tested samples under both normal ambient temperature and elevated temperature conditions.

Results
The revised cooling layout helped the cabinet maintain more stable internal temperature during continuous operation. PWM control allowed the system to reduce fan speed during light load, while FG feedback gave the controller a reliable signal for fan monitoring.
The customer moved from sample testing to a small production batch after confirming airflow, noise, and electrical compatibility.
